Pramoxine and zinc oxide topical (for the skin) is a combination medicine used to temporarily relieve pain, itching, burning, irritation, or soreness caused by hemorrhoids.

Before taking this medicine

You should not use pramoxine and zinc oxide topical if you are allergic to it.

Ask a doctor before using pramoxine and zinc oxide topical if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do not use this medicine on a child younger than 12 years old without medical advice.

How should I use pramoxine and zinc oxide topical?

Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.

Do not take by mouth. Topical medicine is for use only on the skin.

Read and carefully follow any Instructions for Use provided with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.

Clean with soap and warm water and rinse, or clean by patting with a pad. Gently dry the area to be treated.

Do not insert this medication into your rectum.

Wash your hands after using pramoxine and zinc oxide topical.

Stop using this medicine and call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 7 days, or if they get worse.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use.

Pramoxine and zinc oxide topical dosing information

Usual Adult Dose for Hemorrhoids:

Apply externally to the affected area up to 5 times daily. When practical, clean the affected area with mild soap and warm water and rinsing thoroughly. Gently dry by patting with toilet tissue or a soft cloth before applying.

Dispensing Cap:
Attach it to tube, lubricate well, then gently insert part way into anus. Squeeze the tube to deliver medication, then thoroughly cleanse the dispensing cap after use.

Usual Pediatric Dose for Hemorrhoids:

>=12 years:

What happens if I miss a dose?

Apply the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not apply two doses at one time.

What happens if I overdose?

An overdose of pramoxine and zinc oxide topical is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.

What should I avoid while using pramoxine and zinc oxide topical?

Avoid getting pramoxine and zinc oxide topical in your eyes, nose, or vagina. If this does happen, rinse with water.
